I suppose something must be done. I see the agents are Solicitors, perhaps you will be able to ascertain who is the Surveyor and put yourself in communication with him. I do not believe I shall ever get out and I am sure nothing will be left for the unfortunate Miss Hammond"; - John Thomas Green to B.Christian 1 Mar 1880: "I send copy of Letter received this morning I understand that Tidy of Belsize Park has purchased. You must take care there is no forfeiture of Lease for it is evidently intended" (Copy Letter of Surr Gribble & Co 28 Feb 1880); - John Thomas Green to B.Christian 10 Mar 1880: "Thanks for the copy further Contract. I trust the Surveyors are satisfied and have so reported. I have written again to Messrs Surr Gribble & Co." - John Thomas Green to B.Christian 25 May 1880: "According to your request I enclose a Cheque for 100 towards the repairs demanded by the ground landlord. This makes a trifle over 400 owing to me upon this property. Now that the property is put into repair is there a chance of realizing by Auction and if so at what price for I am downright sick of the thing and so must you be"
