Letter from Alfred White in Evansville, Indiana [USA] to John Meager: - Yours on Jany 28th came to hand Feb 18th. Was glad to here [sic] from you in Regard to the Business of Mr.Savage. I am very sorry that it is Necessary for us to Resort to Force to Compell [sic] Mr.G.Savage to Do What is Right and as he appears unwilling to account for the money untill [sic] it suits his Convienence [sic] I think the sooner he is Waited Upon By some one With Power to make him settle the account the Better it Will Be. I Will therefore Invest you With all the Power that the Law Gives to me for the Settlement of that Claime [sic] that the Estate of John C Savage has in the Estate of his father Mr Henry Savage as you Was one of the Executors of the Will of the Deceased Mr Henry Savage and also authorised By me as administrator for the Estate of John C.Savage I hope you Will accept the appointment out of Respect to your Brothers Bereved [sic] Family and Procede at one or immediatly [sic] to Compell Mr.G.Savage to give up the money. I have seen Mrs.Savage since Receiving your Letter and made her acquainted With its Contents in your Efforts made to Collect the account Whatever Expence [sic] you may incur or trouble you may Be Put to you Can Retain money Enough out of the amount Collected to Pay it. But if it is Necesary [sic] for you to have some money Before you Procede to Collect Let me know What it is and I Will send you some to Begin With. I Believe I sent you a Coppy [sic] of my appointment as administrator in my former Letter to you and if you finde [sic] it necesary to have any other Papers from me or from the Vandenburg [sic] County Judge or Clerk of the Court or the family of Mr.J.C.Savage Let me know as Near as you can What is Wanted and I Will have them Prepared and forwarded to you at the Earliest time Posable [sic] hopeing [sic] this Will find you and yours all Well. Mrs savage and family are all Well as also myself and family hope to here from you again soon
