The Mayor's Court, London Copy Opinion of H.C.Richards to Hales & Trustram & Company on Evidence as follows: - "In this case it appears to me it would be impossible to call any material evidence for the defendants as all the attempted arrangements have been made without prejudice & neither of the Defendants can really throw any light upon the original transaction. It will be better therefore to rely wholly upon the cross-examination of the Plaintiff and the grounds of the various pleas placed on the Record for the Defendants. If any evidence be offered it will of course give the Plaintiff the right of reply & upon the whole if no compromise can be effected at the eleventh hour I should advise that no evidence be tendered and that the case be fought 1st on the ground that the Plaintiff was not qualified to appraise 2nd That he was offered the sum for which he undertook to do the work"
