    Resolution of Bedfordshire JPs offering 50 cells in the new gaol to the Government, with related correspondence and papers, Oct to Dec 1850. Included is a copy agreement between the Borough of Northampton and one of the Government Inspectors of Prison regarding the renting by the Government of 50 cells in Northampton Gaol for convicts under sentence of transporation, 17 April 1849 Letter from the former Governor of Hertford Gaol regarding their treadwheel, and amount they charged for grinding corn, 7 Mar 1850. With letter from Thos Smith, Hertford, saying that he thinks Bedfordshire would gain great advantage from having a treadwheel.
