Title
Swiss Garden. Pond, trees and statue of a Roman senator. The plinth is still there today (Nov. 1988) but the statue has been replaced by an eagle. According to an old gardener who worked there in the 1920s (info. Mr. Mardlin, Ranger), Mrs Shuttleworth arranged for the statues to be swopped around every quarter - each weighed several cwt. Sepia postcard. postmark 19 July 1906. No photographer.
