  • Title
    Photographs of traction engine with trailor carrying tree trunk. The engine belongs to Ralph Savage, agricultural contractor, Mill Lane, Riseley. Ralph Savage is the driver, in short sleeves, his assistant Jake Clark of Swineshead. The photograph was taken by Donald Lindley, photographer, outside his shop in Tavistock Street, Bedford [No. 99] on 20th July 1925. The tree was on its way to Astells, Timber Merchants, in Ampthill Street. The engine was made by Fosters of Lincoln and was known as a 'Busy Bee'. Mr. Savage owned the first binder in Riseley and also the second motor car in the village, a Ford T model 1928.
