    Abstract of Mr.Reeve's will and codicils, deed of disclaimer and Mr.Barrett's admission; marked "F"; abstracted by Ashfield & Woodman of Leighton Buzzard abstracting: ALL FREEHOLD & COPYHOLD HEREDITAMENTS COMPRISED IN ABSTRACTS A, B, C [missing], D & E - Z1118/1/1/1, Z1118/1/21/11, Z1118/1/19/1 and Z1118/1/21/12 (I) Will of 24 Sep 1821 of Samuel Reeve of Leighton Buzzard, grocer: - to William Exton of Leighton Buzzard, gentleman and William Cutforth of Leighton Buzzard, draper all his real estate upon trust for sale who he appointed joint executors (II) Codicil of 23 Feb 1836 to will of Samuel Reeve devising to William Exton and Jonathan Barrett all his real estate (having purchased more since his original will) upon trusts for sale - will and codicil proved in PCC on 21 Aug 1844 by Jonathan Barrett alone (III) Deed poll of 28 Oct 1844 by William Exton, late of Leighton Buzzard, now of Hitchin [Hertfordshire], gentleman, reciting (I) and (II) and death of Samuel Reeve on 2 Aug 1844 and that he had refused to act in proving will and codicil and renounced executorship, then renounced and disclaimed all real and personal estate of Samuel Reeve COPYHOLD HEREDITAMENTS WHICH PASSED UNDER MR.REEVE'S WILL & CODICIL (IV) Copy court roll, Manor of Leighton Buzzard alias Grovebury of 31 Oct-1 Nov 1844 - presentment of death of Samuel Reeve seized of (a) two tenements in Leighton Buzzard adjoining inn called White Horse then Roebuck in which John Atkins used to live, then William Drage, then Edward Walker then Benjamin Gartside, formerly part thereof [i.e. the inn?] then formerly divided therefrom in occupation of Joseph Felce and Widow Hack then Elizabeth Clark, widow, now dead and Robert Turnham; situate on S side of Roebuck fronting W on alley called Lindons Alley, which two tenements Benjamin Reeve pulled down and built two new ones 40 feet by 25 feet; (b) washhouse and room over it formerly occupied by Benjamin Gartside as then appertaining to Roebuck; (c) part of three stall stable adjoining little yard belonging to tenement erected by Benjamin Reeve near where (b) stood measuring 10 ft 6 in long by 2 ft 10 in wide from loft floor to ground, part of the stable being partitioned from it at expense of Samuel Reeve; (d) space, ground, way or passage from street in front of tenement lately occupied by Elizabeth Clark to back door of yard of Roebuck; (e) small square piece of ground at upper end of Roebuck Yard adjoining "necessary house" which had been inclosed and fenced in by Benjamin Reeve; (f) right of way for Samuel Reeve through gateway belonging to Roebuck to and from street called Jeffs Lane; (g) use of "necessary house" and pump in Roebuck Yard in common with its occupiers and paying a third for maintenance of pump and expense of farming necessary house , reserving to John Morris, owner of Roebuck, cellar under tenement formerly in occupation of Elizabeth Clarke, new built and adjoining Roebuck and stairs and passage up and down the same through corner of upper room belonging to tenement erected by Benjamin Reeve adjoining Roebuck leading to two rooms over washhouse (b) which was to contain a space 9 feet by 3 feet; (h) cottage formerly called White Horse, then Roebuck near the Market House, Leighton Buzzard formerly in occupation of William Drage, then Benjamin Gartside the Benjamin Gartside and Samuel Reeve; (i) cottage in Leck End, Leighton Buzzard called Sun late in occupation of John Hopkins, then Joshua Hopkins; (j) barn or stable with loft over in Gigg Lane alias Jeffs Lane, Leighton Buzzard in occupation of Thomas Higbid then John Tebworth, later converted into a cottage in occupation of Widow James; (k) cottage in Leck End, Leighton Buzzard in which James Bates formerly dwelt then divided into 2 tenements in occupation of George Day and Daniel Philips, then William James and Rebecca Stratford then John White and Widow Brewer then William James and Surfield; (l) cottage in Middle Row, Leighton Buzzard late in occupation of Thomas Higbid and others then Benjamin Reeve then Samuel Reeve next to house formerly of Thomas Turnham now of Elizabeth Harris, widow; (m) warehouses, offices and outbuildings erected and built on backside of (l) formerly a bakehouse and barn; (n) pightle of pasture on which cottage long since burnt down stood now called Sun Close, in Leck End, Leighton Buzzard formerly in occupation of John Laurie then William Rogers then Samuel Reeve; (o) cottage in Middle Row, Leighton Buzzard formerly of John Marshall many years since divided into 2 tenements one for a long time past used as inn called Cross Keys in occupation of William King and James Sharp since Henry Samuel and William Drage; (p) toft whereon part of (o) once stood in occupation of William Flemons, miller, then John Layton, gardener now bounded out by stones from Market Place near Market Cross; (q) land at upper end of freehold close formerly of John Fox, then William Pyne late Samuel Reeve in Friday Lane, Leighton Buzzard formerly in occupation of Daniel Reeve since William Pyne late Samuel Reeve; - presentment of will, two codicils, death and probate of will of Samuel Reeve; - admission of Jonathan Barrett of Croydon [Surrey], esquire by his attorney Arthur Ashfield at "quit rents of 10d, 3d, 1/8, 1/1. 4d making together 1/5, 1/7, 1/1, 7/- and 2/6 - a heriot in respect of the said messuage when it happened etc."
