    Abstract of title of devisee in trust under will of Samuel Reeve to copyhold premises held of Manor of Stewkley [Buckinghamshire], marked "D"; abstracted by Ashfield & Woodman of Leighton Buzzard, abstracting: (I) Will of John Anstee of Cottslow, Wing [Buckinghamshire], grazier of 30 Mar 1739: - copyhold messuage containing two tenements in occupation of Richard Barton and Richard Luffield in Stewkley [Buckinghamshire] with houses, malthouses. buildings, barns, stables, yards, orchards, gardens, backsides etc. to his wife Mary for her life, remainder to his daughter Esther if she lived past 21 otherwise remainder to his two brothers Edward and William; - 20 debt of testator's to be repaid to Richard Luffield with interest out of copyhold estate (II) Copy court roll, Manor of Stewkley of 16 Jun 1739 - presentment of death of John Anstee seized, at quitrent of 1/6 per annum, of cottage lately divided into two tenements in occupation of Richard Luffield and Richard Barton with yard, garden and backside and malthouse and buildings adjoining in Stewkley; - admission of Mary Anstee (III) Copy court roll, Manor of Stewkley of 15 Jun 1791 - presenting that Mary Anstee was long since dead and Esther Anstee had long since become 21 and intermarried with John Foster of Stewkley, yeoman; - admission of Esther Foster; - surrender by John and Esther Foster to use of Thomas Dell, James Fell and John Barker of Aylesbury [Buckinghamshire], common brewers of cottage in Stewkley previously divided into two tenements in occupation of Richard Luffield and Richard Barton, one long since burned down then only one tenement in occupation of William Tofield, butcher with yard, garden, orchard and backside belonging and malthouse and buildings adjoining; - admission of Thomas Dell, James Fell and John Barker by attorney at quitrent of 1/6 per annum (IV) Release of 17 Jan 1818 Parties: (1) James Fell of Aylesbury [Buckinghamshire], gentleman; (2) Thomas Dell and John Barker of Aylesbury, gentlemen Reciting: - (1) and (2) had been partners as common brewers in which business they held equal shares; - it had been agreed to dissolve the partnership from 29 Sep 1817 and that (2) should buy the third share in the business of (1) for 8,400 of which 2,800 would be (1)'s share of free, lease and copyhold premises and 5,600 his share of stock in trade, utensils, fixtures, debts, monies and other property and effects Operative Part: [amongst other things] - (1) released all copyhold premises of partnership including (a) in (III) above, late in occupation of William Walduck, Thomas Capp and John Wenman successively Inrolled in Chancery on 11 Feb 1818 (V) Copy court roll, Manor of Stewkley of 11 Aug 1823 - admission of John Barker of Aylesbury [Buckinghamshire], gentleman, eldest son of John Barker, late of Aylesbury, common brewer, deceased (VI) Lease & Release of 28-29 Sep 1824 Parties: (1) John Barker and Mary Ann, his wife; (2) Thomas Dell (eldest son of Thomas Dell, deceased) and Maria Sarah, his wife; (3) Daniel Fleming of Grays Inn Place [Middlesex], gentleman; (4) John Barker Reciting: - fathers of (1) and (2) until death of Thomas Dell, had been in partnership in Aylesbury [Buckinghamshire] as common brewers; - will of Thomas Dell of 19 May 1819 devising certain estates to his wife Mary and devising to (2) all the rest of his estate subject to legacies of 1,000 to testator's daughter Elizabeth and 3,000 to testator's son John and Joseph Delafield and charged with 50 annuity tohis wife; - death of Thomas Dell and proof of his will on 28 Nov 1821 in PCC; - will of John Barker of 28 Nov 1821 devised his share in the brewery business to (1) and appointing his wife Cannah and (1) as executors; - death of John Barker in Nov 1822 and proof of his will in PCC on 19 Dec 1822; - (2) had agreed to purchase (1)'s half of copyhold hereditaments for 4,130; - it was not convenient for (2) to pay more than 2,000, the balance being secured by mortgage to (1) Operative Part: - (2) covenanted to surrender copyhold premises held of Manor of Stewkley, now in occupation of Richard Hedges, to (1) to secure mortgage Inrolled in Exchequer of Pleas 12 Jan 1825 (VII) Release of 15 Oct 1829 Parties: (1) John Barker; (2) Thomas Dell; (3) Elizabeth Dell of Aylesbury [Buckinghamshire], spinster (daughter of Thomas Dell, deceased); (4) John Dell of Aylesbury, common brewer and Joseph Delafield of Castle Street, Long Acre [Middlesex], common brewer; (5) Mary Dell of Aylesbury, widow of Thomas Dell; (6) Joseph Woodman of Littlecote, Stewkley [Buckinghamshire], gentleman; (7) Samuel Reeve of Leighton Buzzard, common brewer Reciting: - admission of 15 Jun 1791 [(III) above] and release of 18 Jan 1818 [(IV) above]; - partnership of John Barker deceased and Thomas Dell, deceased as common brewers in Aylesbury; - will, death and proof of will of Thomas Dell; - will, death and proof of will of John Barker; - (V) above; - (1) and (2) had never made any surrender to (1) pursuant to covenant in (VI) above; - (2) had agreed to sell copyhold cottage in Stewkley to (6) for 240 which should be paid, as part of legacy of 3,000, to (4); - (6) then contracted to sell the copyhold cottage in Stewkley to (7) for 250; - (3) and (5) had agreed to release the copyhold cottage in Stewkley from legacy of 1,000 and annuity of 50 respectively; - (1) surrendered the copyhold cottage in Stewkley to (7) for 240 paid to (4) and 10 paid to (6) Operative Part: - (7) paid 10/- each to (1), (2), (3) and (5); - (1), (2), (3), (4), (5) and (6) released Stewkley cottage to (7) freed from payment of legacies or annuity - covenant by (1) and (2) to production of deeds to (7) (VIII) Copy court roll, Manor of Stewkley of 2 Jun 1830: - presentment that on 15 Oct 1829 John Barker had surrendered cottage in Stewkley to use of Samuel Reeve - premises described as: cottage formerly divided into two dwellings in occupation of Richard Luffield and Richard Barton, one of which had long since been pulled down, the remaining tenement into William Tofield, butcher with yard, garden, orchard and backside belonging and malthouse and buildings adjoining which, for some time past, had been used as a public house by sign of Bull & Butcher in occupation of William or John Walduck and Thomas Capp, successively then William Wenman, then Richard Hedges and to which John Barker was admitted on 11 Aug 1823 - admission of Samuel Reeve by Arthur Ashfield, gentleman, his attorney (IX) Copy court roll, Manor of Stewkley of 1 Nov 1844 - Samuel Reeve, after his admission, took down the cottage in Stewkley occupied as a public house and rebuilt it as a public house with another cottage occupied as a private residence;
