    Judicial Business: Recognizances. - "The condition of this recognizance is such that whereas there were lately two batteries committed in the parish of Marston Moretaine aforesaid, on or about the 9th day of this instant April, the one upon the body of William Oakley of the afsd parish by George Gilham of Marston afsd, and the other upon the body of John Farr, the son of William Farr and Susan his wife, an infant, by one Thomas Woodcraft of the sd parish, now if the abovebounden William Farr and Thomas Eyans shall bring their beforenamed two wives into Court at the next General Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be held for this county of Bedford and shall then and there oblige them to ----- a Bill of Indictment against him, the sd Thomas Woodcraft, for the battery he committed upon the body of John Farr and also to give in such evidence as they shall know touching both the batterys abovementioned and that they, the sd Susan Farr and Frances Eyans do not depart without leave of the Court, then this recognizance to be void, otherwise to be and remain in honour and virtue." - Signed John Cater, JP
