Will: 31 Aug 1874:
- all his personal estate to his wife Charlotte Elizabeth, his brother Jabez of Bolton-le-Moors [Lancashire] and John Clough of Northwich [Cheshire], chemist and grocer, as trustees and executrix and executors, to realise the assets and invest in stocks paying interest etc. to Charlotte Elizabeth for her life as long as she remained a widow, remainder to the children of the testator and Charlotte Elizabeth, except the testator's eldest child ,by his first marriage, Emily Maria for whom provision had been made under her parents' marriage settlement
