Lord Mayor's National Air Raid Distress Fund Note: this fund was established by the Lord Mayor of London to provide money to assist those bombed out of their houses or otherwise injured by enemy action. The fund was administered through Regional Committees (in the case of Bedfordshire the Eastern Region, organised by the Lord Mayor of Norwich) with funds devolved to counties or county boroughs; counties then further devolved funds down to district or borough councils
