    Letter four(pages 9-12) From Abraham, Hobart Town to brother William, Bromham. With additional note written in 1934 by Winifred BROWN. Have 3 or 4 carpenters and quarrymen working in quarry purchased nine months ago. "My dear wife has been confined to her bed four weeks by a severe affliction, consequent a premature confinement" "the Lord give and the Lord taken away and blessed by the name of the Lord..........." "Received your letter dated 24th November, dripping wet from the wreck of the "George the Third"(see newspaper report of Relicts in Sea Found 23.3.1959). "Eliza is grieved that friends do not write more, the loss of the letter giving her news of her father's death has never been fully made up; her brother's account of his wife's death was received in due time". Have several bad debts, business has been dull, depreciation of the money market, partly owing to extensive and impolitic sale of Crown lands . Mentions Colonial Acts and grants of small allotments of land. "We want no paupers; but men of property who could give employment to those who are daily becoming free". "Tell Mr REILLY the Charlie is so exceedingly insolent" , letter was being sent to his father. Stocktaking: amount of goods, land and two houses £2025.10.0. Have made advances[the Wesleyans]into New Norfolk. Gained consent of "Brother WILKINSON"(late catachist to the Aborigines at Flinders Island, Bass Strait)to conduct Divine Service at New Norfolk(22 miles away). "We now preach there in two places every Sunday and alternate Thursdays, expect two new Chapels very soon". Additional note written in 1934 by Winifred BROWN.
