    Indenture of conveyance by feoffment Parties (i) Nathaniel Costin of Bedford, gent., only surviving feoffee of the trust land below. (ii) William Costin [Toistin [?sic] in the habendum clause below] of Bedford, gent., Thomas Kendal of Wilstead, yeoman, John Dodson of the same, yeoman, William Tompkins of the same, yeoman, Richard Willis/Willas of 'Elvestow' [Elstow], James Risely of the same, yeoman, Henry Bull of Milton Ernest, yeoman, Thomas Livet of Wilstead, butcher, John Kendall and John Archer, both of the same, yeomen, John White, yeoman. Recitals Will of Richard Wells dated 3 Nov 1686 and other matters in /4/1-2 above That (i) by a feoffment dated 16 Apr 1731 was, amongst others, by the then surviving trustees appointed one of the trustees of the entrusted premises and is now the only surviving feoffee. Operative part Feoffment from (i) to (ii) in fee of 8a. acres of land, arable and ley ground as in /4/1-2(a)-(j) above, variations/additions in description here being as follows: (a) Abuttals; land of John Parker to the E., Dane way to the S. and Halland furlong to the N. (b) Abuttals: land of the Earl of Granvelle to the E., land of Miss Edwards to the W., Willis's headland to the N., and Farrers Brook to the S. (c) half acre on a place called Adcocks Hill now known by the name of Narrow Eadway furlong, and abutting N. on the vicars headland, S.[?sic; E.] on the land of John Parker, the land of Cowley Dearmer being N. and land of JP to the S. (d) Abuttals: Eadway to the N., Houghton Field S., and land of JP to the E. (e) Abuttals: [first half acre] land of Earl Granvelle to the N.; and [second half acre] land of William Waldock to the S., E. and W. as the first half acre but with land of Mr. Lee to the N. and land of JP to the S. (f) Abuttals: Mill Road way E., Gostwicks furlong W., vicarage land to the N. and land of William Tompkins to the S. (g) Abuttals: North Balland furlong to the N., Daneway to the S. and the Town or School land to the W. (h) In Hills field here: [half acre] described as having land of Thomas Kendal N. and Mrs. Lee S., and abutting on Mrs. Lee's headland E. and on Houghton Field W.; [one rood] on North Craft furlong here, abutting on the land of Miss Edwards N., the headland belonging to the poor of Ampthill to the S., the land of William Tompkins E. and land of the Earl of Granvelle to the W.; [half acre; being 2 lands] abutting on West Brook to the N., on Eadway S., land of widow Cawne E. and land of William Tompkins W. (j) In Mead Field on the Clayside here: [half acre] abutting E. on the headway, W. on the Toll road, N. on the land of [ ] Lane esq. ; [half acre] abutting E. on the headway, W. on the Toll Road, N. on land of Mrs. Lee and S. on the land of John Parker; [half acre being one land] abutting E. on the Headway, W. on the Toll Road, S. on the land of Miss Edwards, and N. on the land of William Tompkins; [and 1 rood] described as lying down by a place called Sowell and abutting E. on the Joint Way, W. on the meadow, N. on the land of Miss Edwards and S. on the land of Miss Lee. All which lands are now in the tenure or occupation of the Rev. Megison Newton, clerk, vicar of Wilstead. General words clause specifies hedges, bushes, ditches, trees, fences, mounds, hades, slades, baulks, grass ends, furrows, ways, waters, watercourses, easements, commons. profits, commodities and appurtenances. Habendum to (ii) in fee upon the special trust that all the rents of the land shall be yearly for ever paid to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of Wilstead to be employed by them and bestowed in putting children of the poorest inhabitants of Wilstead to school and paying for their learning and to no other use. Ordination of WC as the trustees' attorney to enter upon the premises and take possession in the name of the whole. Signatures of all the trustees. Dorse: witnesses to sealing and delivery are John Cavit, Richard Wakefield, Thomas Lowe, James Lacy and James Kendal.
