Reciting - X 870/4/1 - Indenture of mortgage of 28 Jun 1844 from William Brown to Oswald Fordhan of Ashwell [Hertfordshire], brewer, to secure £160 at 5% interest on (a) - Mortgage by Surrender of 13 May 1846 from WB to OF to secure £100 at 4.5% interest on (b) - (d) - That the principal of £260 was still owing but interest had been paid Witnessing WB conveyed to JB/EB for £40 (being the residue of £200 once the mortgage of £160 was paid): (a) allotment, close, piece or parcel of land or ground in Milhoe, Dunton, containing 1/3/16 formerly in occupation of John Holmes, now of WB, formerly the estate of Samuel Page, deceased WB conveyed to JB/EB for £100 (being the residue of £100 once the mortgage of £100 was paid): (b) newly erected cottage or tenement (built on the site of continued two cottages or tenements formerly in the occupation of William Brown) together with barn, yard, outbuildings and premises on The Green in Dunton in occupation of WB (c) thatched cottage or tenement together with barns and outbuildings near or adjoining lately in occupation of John Gale, now of David Masters the younger (d) clay bat built and slated cottage or tenement (recently erected by WB) with a barn in occupation of JB WB acquiring (b) to (d) in three one third shares as follows: at Court of 13 Jan 1832 under a will of his grandfather Thomas Brown, deceased; at Court of 27 Dec 1841 on surrender of John Brown; at Court of 27 Dec 1841 on surrender of James Brown.
