    Deposition: Henry Lisle, Clophill, yeo. Returning from St. Neots with coals, Jn. Usher had quarrel and fight with 2 masons, Jn. Linn and Wm. West, in a yard. W.W. cried to J.L. 'Knock him on the head'. H.L. parted them. The Information of Henry Lisle of Clapwill yeoman taken the 10th of May before me John Ventris Esqr one of his Majesties Justices of peace for this County This Informant being sworne sayth that having beene at St Neots for Coles with John Usher as they past through Maulden with their teames their happend some quarelsome words betwixt John Usher and one John Linn a mason at work in a yard whereuppon John Usher went into the yard and stroke John Linn thereuppon William West of Maulden Mason cried out Hang hym pay hym knock hym on the head uppon which this Informant Answered lets not see hym knockt on the head and thereuppon went in to the yard and parted them, John Usher was uppermost at first but afterwards Linn was uppermost and then West cried out knock hym on the head and farther sayth not John Ventris Robert Peck and Thomas Redman say The same both Clapwill men
