    Deposition: Edmund Wagstaffe, Colmworth, yeo. 26 February 1680. Suspects Jn. Boston of stealing hog's flesh from his house. Thomas Pestell, Colmworth, lab. Jn. Boston confessed theft. Thomas Wagstaffe, Colmworth, blacksmith. Jn. Boston said he helped Ric.Pestell, brother of Thomas, to steal the meat. John Boston, Eaton Socon, lab. Denies theft of meat. The Information of Edmund Wagstaffe of Colmeworth in the County of Bedford yeoman taken uppon his oath the six and twentieth day of February in the yeare of our Lord 1679. This Informant saith that about the latter end of January last past hee lost severall peices of Hoggs flesh which was then stollen from him out of his howse And that hee hath in Suspicon John Boston of Eaton Socon laborer for committing the said felony, which, was confessed by the said Boston unto Thomas Pestell of Colmeworth aforesaid laborer and Thomas Wagstaffe of Colmeworth aforesaid Blacksmith as the said Wagstaffe and Pestell told this Informant The marke of Edmund Wagstaffe Taken sworne and acknowledged The day and yeare abovewritten Before mee W Foster The Information of Thomas Pestell of Colmeworth in the County of Bedford laborer taken uppon his oath the six and twentieth day of February in the yeare of our Lord 1679 This Informant saith saith that hee this Informant with Thomas Wagstaffe of Colmeworth aforesaid Blacksmith and John Boston of the parrish of Eaton Socon aforesaid laborer on Wednesday last drinkeing together at the howse of William Keyes of Colmeworth aforesaid victualler then haveing some discourse concerning severall peeces of hoggs flesh which was stollen from Edmund Wagstaffe out of his howse at Colmeworth, the said John Boston then told this Informant and the said Thomas Wagstaffe that hee the said John Boston had the said meat and unlocked the doore where it was and put it into a bagg and carried it away and threw it into a pit but did not carry it home And further saith not The marke of Thomas Pestell Taken sworne and acknowledged the day and yeare before written Before mee W Foster The Information of Thomas Wagstaffe of Colmeworth in the County of Bedford blacksmith taken uppon his oath the 13th day of March in the yeare of our Lord 1679 This Informant saith that uppon Shrove tuesday last about eight or nine of the clock at night hee this Informant with Thomas Pestell and John Boston drinkeing together at the howse of William Keyes and Alehouse in Colmeworth aforesaid and then having some discourse together about severall peices of hogsflesh being the offal of a hogg which Edmund Wagstaffe of Colmeworth aforesaid about three weekes before had stollen from him out of his howse, the said John Boston told this Informant and the said Thomas Pestell that Richard Pestell the brother of the said Thomas Pestell had the said hogsflesh and this Informant askeing him how hee come to know that, the said John Boston replied that hee the said John Boston opened the doore and let him the said Richard Pestell in, and helped him upp with it. The marke of Thomas Wagstaffe Sworne and acknowledged the Day and yeare abovewritten Before mee W Foster The Examinacon of John Boston of the parish of Eaton Socon in the county of Bedford laborer taken the 26th day of February in the yeare of our Lord 1679 This Examinant being charged with the felonious takeing of severall peeces of hogsflesh the goodes of Edmund Wagstaffe yeoman out of his house at Colmeworth in the said County of Bedford, doth utterly deny the same Taken and acknowledged the day and yeare abovewritten Before mee W Foster
