    Deposition: Mary Jackson, Nottingham, widow. 12 January 1680. Husband John J. died as result of blow with fork given by Ric.Miles, for cutting a stick out of his hedge. The Informacon of Mary Jackson late of Nottingham in the County of Notingham widdow taken upon oath before Sr Francis Wingate Knt and William Duncombe Esqr two of his Majesties Justices of the peace for the said County of Bedford the 12th day of January Anno dni 1679 This Informt sayth that John Jackson her husband dyed at Cawcott in the County of Bucks about eleaven weekes since and that he had upon his right side a Bruise of a great breadth, and that her said husband told her before he dyed that one Richard Miles gave him a blow with a forke Stale [handle] which occasioned the Bruise, for Cutting a Small handsticke out of his hedge and that the Blow was given about three weekes before his death, and that on Monday next after the blow was given he vomitted blood the quantity of halfe a pint at twice, and after that was never able to goe abroad but continued ill for about three weekes and then dyed, and about five dayes before his death he said if he dyed at that time, that man was the death of him, meaneing Richard Miles of Aspley who had given him the Blow: and further sayth not.
