    Deposition: Matthew Deverell, Swanburne (Bucks), yeo. Lost 17 sheep out of his grounds. Wm. Nedham described persons who asked him to steal sheep with them. M.D. went to Woburn and arrested them. The Information of Matthew Deverell of Swanburne in the county of Bucks yeoman taken upon oath before me Wm Duncombe Esqr one of his Majesties Justices of the peace for the County at Battlesden this 31th of Augt 1679. This Informnt being duely sworne saith, That on thursday last being the 28th of Augt about eight of the clock in the morning, he went into his grounds, & saw his sheep being 16 ewes & a ramme lamb, redlead upon the middle of the back. That on fryday about twelve [or?] one of the clock he missed his sd sheep, & searching diligently for them he found a place in his ground, where they had been driven out, and the next day being saturday, still searching for his sd sheep, he mett with Wm Nedham of whom this informnt enquired if he had seen any stray sheep, for this informnt had lost 17, and the sd Nedham told this informnt that he saw none, but he beleived that there might be some sheep stolen thereabouts, because he had been in company with some people, that intended some such business, and that they had asked him to help them, and described their persons, and according to his description, this informnt pursued them to Wooburne, & took them at the crosse keys in Wooburne.
