  • Scope and Content
In October 1967 Caddington: Five Oaks C.S.M School sent a notice to the county architect about their desire to construct a garage for the school's new mini bus and asked for his comments on the matter. The school sent prepared plans to the county architect which wre amended and improved through continued corespondence between the two parties, the original plan was deemed unacpetable by the school so a new plan was devised. This was approved by the county architect who sent back an estimate of costs excluding labour along with a reminder from the planning officer to gain the appropriate planning application. Enclosed in the file are three large 2D scaled technical design drawings/diagrams which, the third was amended to comply with building regulations. Also are the planning permission along with the approval and the description of works which are dated between August 1968 and September 1969. Following this there are documetns regarding the digging of trial holes expsoing water and refilling them. At this point the contractor for the build CS Nye Ltd went into voluntary liquidation and the county sheriff put in a claim for the additional costs of completing the works after the contract was determined which not long after went to a court of appeal. The results of the appeal are not included in the file and it is know that in the end, the garage was never built.
