    Deposition:Thomas Morgan, Northallerton (Yorks). 23 Dec. 1678. Had been living with Mr. Thos. Cotes, a Roman Catholic. Was going to London to give evidence v. certain Catholics. He bought the horse of Thos. Farnaby. Thomas Oney, Chalgrave, bailiff of lord of manor. Seized stolen horse found with Th.Morgan. Jn.Wright, servant to Mr. Peeps, minister of Clifton. The horse is his. The Examination of Thomas Morgan taken before me George Abbott Esqr the 23d day of December At Stepingley in the sd County Anno Dni 1678 This Examinant saith he lived for this yeare and halfe last past with one Mr Thomas Cotes of Kieback of Northallerton in Yorkshire who was a Roman Catholick and maintaind one Poskett in his house and was now going up to London to give evidence against the said persons and likewise against one Francis Escot and Robt Berry two other Catholicks He saith he bought the horse of one Thomas Farnaby who liveth at Great Smeeting five miles beyond North Allerton in Yorkshire Afterwards he confest he had been a soldier but disbanded because he was a Papist. The Information of Thomas Oney of Chargrave in this County taken before me the 27th day of December upon Oath & c He saith he found a Bay Gelding in the possession of the prisoner who owned his name to be Tho Morgan and understanding that he was a stoln horse seiz'd him for the use of the Lord of the Mannor and as his Baily The Information of John Wright taken at the same time & c He saith that the very same Bay Gelding which was seizd by Thomas Oney and which he found in his possession was and is the proper Gelding of him the said Wright and that on Friday last in the afternoon he was feeding him in his Masters Yard Mr Peeps Minister of Clifton in the County of Bucks and the next morning early between one and two a clock he mist him and further saith not George Abbott
