    Deposition:William Coleman, Biggleswade, soldier in Lieut. Feversham's Regmt. of Dragoons. Aug. 4 1678. Saw Jn. Banes hit Lawrence Burton, a soldier, on the head with a fork, after L.B. had tried to catch a chicken on J.B.'s ground. L.B. later died from blow. The Information of William Coleman of Bigleswade in the county of Bedford souldier in the Lord Fevershams Regiment of Dragoons, taken before Robert Audley Esq one of his Majestys Justices of the peace for the county of Bedford: Aug: 4.1678. This Informant saith that he sawe John Banes of Sutton in the county of Bedford shoemaker upon a hempland by his house in Sutton afforesaide on the 29th daye of July last with a fork in his hand, and that when the said John Banes saw Mr Laurence Burton a souldier in the Regiment afforesaide follow a chicken on the other side of the hedge, the said Banes saide unto the said Burton, if you come over the hedge I will be meete with you, and the saide Burton then offering to get over the hedge the saide Banes gave the said Burton a great blow on the head with a fork on which he fell to the ground; and the said Informant further saith that the saide Burton died last night about ten of the clock in the night, and this Informant beleeves that the said blow was the cause of his death; and further this Informant saith not.
