    Deposition: Robert Wainwright, Flitwick, lab. 22 March 1678. Geo. Sole jnr. and Ric. Rolph got R.W. to carry letter to the Dolphin in Newport, where one Butcher received it. The Informacon of Robert Wainwright of Flitwick in the County of Bedford laborer taken upon Oath before Sir Francis Wingate knight ... 22 the day of March .. 1678 This Informant sayth that about Whitsontide last he was requested by George Sole the younger of Flittwicke aforesaid to carry a letter to Newport, and that George Sole tooke this Informant along with him to the house of one Richard Rolph of Flittwicke aforesaid, and told him the letter was not ready, but must be writt there, and the said Rolph being ill in his Chamber they desired this informant to withdraw, and that they being there together writt a letter sealed it up, and commanded this Informant to carry it to the signe of the Dolphin in Newport, where they told him would be a person ready to receive it, whose name they told him not, neither had the letter any direction or Superscription, and that one named Butcher (as this Informant thinkes) mett him there and told him the letter he brought was for him, who tooke it of him, and gave him a shilling for his paines, and desired him if any of Newport asked him from whence he came he should not tell them; And further sayth not.
