  • Title
    William Page, Hockliffe, butcher. M. Jenkins offered to sell sheep, which she said was hers; disagreement over price. The information of Wm Page of the towne of Hockliff Butcher in the County aforesd taken before me Wm Duncombe one of his Maties Justices of the peace for the County aforesd this 25 day of December 1677 This informant sayth that about a month since he went to the house of Roger Jenkins in whose orchard he saw a greate long sheep ridled on the back & as he thinks marked but what marke knows not he asked Mary Jenkins whose sheep it was, she answerd hir owne he replyd no, tis John Gurneys, she answerd twas hirs, sheed sell it & it matterd not whose it was. This informnt offered 16s, but she would have 18s & would take no lesse, that afterwards he returnd agen & offerd 16s but she refused to take it said she would not sell it under 18s & that she was sorry she had offered it so cheape.
