Mary Freelone, Ampthill, widow.
Robert Butts's dog jumped upon J.C. and frightened him; a week later he died. The Informacon of Mary Freelove of Ampthill in the County aforesaid widd Taken the first daie of Septemb Anno Dm 1677 This Informant sayeth that on frydaie beinge the 24th daie of August last past shee hapned to bee gatheringe of Nutts in Rouse Wood in the parishe of Wootton in Companie of one John Copeland sonne of Willm Copeland of Ampthill Butcher & two of his Sisters att the same Time one Robert Butt Jun of Wootton in the said County Lab came into the said Wood with A great Dogg & being in wrath with the said John Copeland & the Rest of us for gatheringe of Nutts in the said Wood Maniged the Dogg to Run upon the said John Copeland soe that upon feare thereof the said John Copeland did Cry out and went home very much afrighted & that daie seavennight after hee died And shee further sayeth that the said Robert Butt persued the said Children with my Selfe unto a Housse nere therto adjoyninge unto the said Wood & there hee asked mee whose Children they were & I Replied they were Willm Copelands And further sayeth not Tho Snagge
