    William Burdett, Henlow, labourer 5 May 1677. Confesses theft of 3 bushels of pease and ats from his master JohnHaggis; sold them to Robt.Dilley for 5s. Also confesses to previous theft of 2 bushels. The Examinacon of Willyam Burdett of Henloe in the County of Bedd Laborer taken before Samuel Bedford Esqr one of his Maies Justices of the Peace for the sd County the fifth day of May in the xxixth yeare of the Raigne of our Sovraigne Lord King Charles the Second Annoque Dni 1677. Sayth that about the eleaventh day of April last He did steale & take away three bushells of Pease & Gates out of the barne of Mr John Haggis his master with whom hee lived in Henloe, & Carryed them to one Robert Dilley his house in Shefford & sould them for five shillings. And further sayth that on the one & twentieth of the same month Hee tooke away Two bushells of Pease & Oates more out of his said masters barne, & carryed them to the house of one Widdow Brawne in Clifton, & there left them, but did not further dispose of them.
