    Deposition: William Goodyeare, journeyman shoemaker. 28 February 1676. A pair of shoes made by him at his master's shop, and stolen, were found at wifeS.'s house when it was searched for T.N.'s goods. Josias Rushead jnr., son of J.R., Bedford, cordwinder. Saw wifeS. steal a pair of shoes out of his father's shop. His father found them in wifeS.'s house. Josias Rushead snr. As Constable, searched house of wifeS. for T.N.'s goods, and found also pair of shoes stolen out of his own shop. The information of William Goodyeare journeyman shoomaker unto Josias Ruffhead of Bedford in the county of Bedds cordwinder taken upon oath the eight and twentieth day of February Ao Dni juxta & c 1675 This informant saith that the Wednesday or Thursday next before Easter last past hee this informant haveing made a paire of woemens shooes for his said masters service which hee sett upp in his said masters shopp in Bedford aforesaid and missing the said shooes the day following searcht for them but could not finde them and therefore did conclude that the said shooes were feloniously taken away out of the said shopp and that about six monthes after to this deponents best remembrance one Richard Edwards a fellow workman with this informant in the said shopp shewed this informant the said paire of shooes and asked him if hee knew them saying they were found at Mr Smithes house in Bedford upon search for Mr Newmans goods for which the said Mr Smithe is now a prisoner in his Majties Gaole at Bedford And this deponent saith that hee doth well know the said paire of shooes soe shewed unto him which were the same shooes hee this informant made and were lost out of his said masters shopp as aforesaid And further saith not The marke of William Goodyeare Taken and acknowledged the day and yeare above written before mee W: Foster The information of Josias Ruffhead the younger, sonn of Josias Ruffhead of the towne of Bedford in the county of Bedford cordwinder taken upon oath the 28th day of February Anno Dni juxta & c 1675 This informant saith that on or about Thursday next before Easter last past hee this informant did see one Willm Smithe of the towne of Bedford innholder steale one paire of shooes out of his this informants said fathers shopp in Bedford aforesaid which said paire of shooes this informants father upon search as hee told this informant found in the house of the said Mr Smithe who is now a prisoner in his Majties gaole at Bedford upon suspicon of felony and further saith not Taken and acknowledged the day and yeare above written before mee W: Foster The marke of Josias Ruffhead ju The information of Josias Ruffhead of Bedford in the county of Bedford cordwinder taken upon oath the 28th day of February Ao Dni juxta & c 1675 This informant saith that hee this informant haveing a warrant delivered unto him from Doctor Foster one of his Majeties Justices of the peace for the towne and county of Bedford to search in such suspected howses as hee should bee directed by Thomas Newman of St Neots in the county of Hunt draper for goods feloniously taken from him out of his shopp in St Neots aforesd did assist the said Thomas Newman in makeing search for his said goodes at the howse of Willm Smithe in the towne of Bedford hee this informant beeing one of the constables of the said towne and upon his said search beeing about the third day of November last past hee this informant found a paire of shooes in the howse of the said Mr Smithe there taken out of a truncke or coffer which upon examination of Willm Goodyeare his servant hee this informant found to bee his shooes & that they had bin stolne out of his said shopp And further saith not Taken and acknowledged the day and yeare above written before mee W: Foster Josias Ruffhead
