    Deposition: Philip Deere, Baldock, grocer. Nic. Thurgeod sold him bay gelding for £4. Later William Hunton claimed it as his, and P.D. returned it to avoid trouble. Hertf: Philip Deere of Baldocke in the sd county grocer sworne & examined the twelfth day of July 1675 before James Willymott one of his Maties Justices of the peace for the sd county of Hertf Saith that about the fifteenth of March last past one Nicholas Thurgood of Broome in the parish of Southill in the county of Bedford came and proferred to sell him the sd Philip a bay gelding which the sd Philip bought of him at the price of foure poundes And about two or three daies after one William Hunton of Broome aforesd came and claimed the sd geldinge saying that hee was his horse the said Philip replying how then came Thurgood by him, the sd William Hunton answered that hee would not tell him notwithstanding the sd Philip to avoid further trouble delivered the sd geldinge to the sd William Hunton Phillip Deere Jurat coram me Die & anno supra dct Jas Willymott
