    Deposition: William Inskip, tailor, and Eliz. his wife, Wardon. 27 Feb. 1672 Suspected Jane Wilson of stealing a kettle. Found she had sold it to Mr. Hancocke, Bedford, brazier. Jane Wilson. She bought the kettle from Alice Hobbs of Wardon. John Smith, William Raynsdon, Wardon, labs. Jane Wilson asked them to make agreement with Alice Hobbs, who, she heard, would fetch a warrant against her for saying she bought the kettle from her. The information of Wm Inskip taylor and Eliz his wife both of Warden taken upon oath the 27th of Feb. 1671/2 before John Ventris Esq J.P. The infs. being both sworne say that they had about the 5th of this inst. Feb lost a kettle and heard that Jane Wilson who keepe the shop at Warden although an inhabitant of Shefford had carried sucha one to Shefford; they made inquiry after it but could find none for the present but after hearing that Jane Wilson had sold such a one to Mr Hancocke of Bedford Brasier, theses infs. both went thither and enquiring of him whether he had bought such a kettle of one Jane Wilson of Shefford, he sayd he had they replied they beleived it was theirs and desired to see it, uppon which he demaunded the markes and size of their kettle; they told him him them uppon which he declared the kettle was theirs having the marks they nominated, and shewed it them and declared he would keepe it to be forthcominge against any prosec[u]tion should be made for it. And further sayth not. The examination of Jane Wilson taken the same day. She being examined whether she had ever sold such a kettle to Mr Hancocke of Bedford confessed she had, but that she bought the sd. kettle of Alice Hobbs of Warden at Warden, noe body beinge then present. The information of Jn Smith of Warden labourer and William Raynsdon of the same taken upon oath before me John Ventris Esq. the 1st of March, 1671. These infs. doe uppon their oaths declare that Jane Wilson haring that Alice Hobbs would fech a warrant against hir for saying she bought a kettle of hir which Eliz. Inskip layed claime to, Jane Wilson desired both these informants to goe to Alice Hobbs and make an agreement with hir concerning those words [?] and she would be contented with whatever they two did doe; and further sayeth not.
