    Deposition: Thomas Trustrum of Shefford. 3 December 1670. A stranger who said he belonged to Lady St. John asked him to stop a young fellow who had stolen £20 from Lady St.John. When he passed the Informant stopped him until the Constable came. Thomas Huckells, Tempsford. 3 December 1670. Found the hinges of his chest forced open, and £14. 2., a coat and a pair of breeches stolen. Pursued Robt.Langdale until he was taken, and confessed. The information of Thomas Trustram of Shefford taken before me John Ventris Esq. J.P. on the 3rd Dec., 1670 This informant being sworne sayeth that about eight or nine of the clocke of the sayd day A stranger came to him and sayd he belonged to the Lady St. John of Tempsford and that a younge fellow of about nineteene yeares of age with white hayre and a white gray sute too bigg for him had taken twenty pound from my Lady St. John and desired him yr. Sd. Informant to stop any such person if he saw such a one pass by his shop. not longe after the sayd Informant seeing such a one pass by desired to speake with him and then stopt him untill the Constable came and seised him whereuppon he immediately confest himselfe to be the person whoe was pursued for the Robberey and delivered the constable foureteene pound fourteene shillings and six pence and farther sayeth not. The information of Thomas Huckell of Tempsford taken the 4th of Dec. 1670 before the same J.P. This inf. sayeth that uppon the second day of this inst. December he lost out of his Chest foureteene pounds too shillings and that the hinges of his chest weare wrenched open; he lost likewise a Coat and a payre of breeches at the same time and immediately missing his fellow servant Robert Langdale followed him with Hue and Cry untill that he was taken at Shefford and as he heareth hath confest the fact and farther sayeth not.
