Title
Robert Muxley, Great Linford, labourer 7 Jan. 1669. Lodged 60 sheep of Sir Charles Napier in close of Edm. Osmund, victualler : found sheep skin on searching house of Andrew Impey, branded Richard Napier The information of Robert Muxley of Great Linford, Bucks, labourer taken upon oath the Seaventh day of January, 1668. This informant saith that on Thursday at night last being the one and Thirtieth day of December hee this informant ladged threescore sheepe of Sir Richard Napiers of Great Linford, Bucks in a close with Edmund Osmond in Laighton Beudezart, Beds. inn-holder which hee this informant with the said Edmund told into the said close situate in Laighton aforesd., and the next morning they the said Robert Muxley and Edmund Osmond telling of the said sheepe out of the said close wanted one of the said sheepe, which they conceived to be stol(en) and thereupon this informant did desire the sd. Edmund Osmond to make search for the said sheepe, which hee accordingly did, as hee told this informant, and upon his said search at the house of Andrew Impey of Laighton aforesaid, Beds, labourer did find there a sheepe skin throwne up into the seiling of the said house of the said Andrew Impey, which said skin the said Edmund Osmond (as the said Edmund told this informant) shewed this informant on Tuesday night last, which said skin this informant doth verily believe to bee the skin of the sheepe which hee lost as aforesaid for that the said skin was branded with the letters R and N and redded over the Loynes with which said markes thirty (of the said three score sheepe) were markt and that the sheepe which was wanting was one of the said thirty and markt with the said letters and brand upon the said skin shewed this informant by the said Osmond and hee further saith not.
