    Mortgage 1James Gregory, Grovebury, Leighton Buzzard, baker (mortgagor) 2Matthew Rutley, Leighton Buzzard, victualler (mortgagee) 3Richard Flemons, Leighton Buzzard, mealman Mortgage by 1 to the use of 2 consideration £80 all that freehold messuage, cottage or tenement with appurtenances wherein John Gregory lately dwelt and Thomas Fox now dwells, at Leighton Buzzard South: cottage and ground late of Joyce Foster East: abutting into the street and also a freehold cottage at Simpson, Bucks, now occupied by John Lucas, with 1r of land and orchard adjoining and a plot of ground at the north end of the said cottage at Leighton Buzzard ranging in equal proportion in length and breath from the east corner of the cottage unto the further side of the ground wherein lately stood an elm tree with the mains thereupon standing, together with the malthouses, malting offices, edifices, buildings, barns, stables, yards, gardens, orchards etc. and all commodities, hereditaments whatsoever belonging Term 1000 years Rent one peppercorn annually on the Feast Day of the annunication of the Blessed Virgin Mary And James Gregory at next Easter Term or a convenient Term to levy unto Richard Flemons and his heirs one fine for the better conveyance of the premises for the said term Provided always that James Gregory or his heirs pay to Matthew Rutley or his heirs £80 by 18 March next [1766] in the penalty of £160 and interest, and on repayment of the principal and interest the deed to be void. James Gregory and assigns to enjoy premises until such default be made.
