  • Title
    Admission to the Rectory Manor, Stotfold of Cordwell Westrope Shepherd on the surrender of John Harris. Reciting: - Absolute surrender dated 18th Feb 1903 and entered on the court rolls on 10th Mar 1903 (see Z1116/2/13 for related warrant). - Indenture dated 17th Feb 1903 between (i) John Harris of 6 Elm Avenue, Long Eaton, Derbyshire, warper (ii) William and Thomas Albon both of Stotfold, Beds, labourers (iii) Cordwell Westrope Shepherd of Stotfold, butcher whereby in consideration of 290 paid by (iii) at the request of (i) to (ii), (i) surrenders (a-b) to the lord of the manor. Operative: John Harris surrenders (a-b) and Cordwell Westrope Shepherd is admitted tenant to the property according to the customs of the manor. Property: Same as (a-c) at Z1116/2/11 but with a slightly different description: (a) Messuage or tenement (then occupied as two tenements) with garden, farm yard and buildings at Mill Lane, Stotfold. (b) Enclosure of pasture belonging to (a) of 1a 3r 32p. Property at (a-b) were (with exception of one tenement in the occupation of Mrs Bygrave) in the tenure of occupation of James Mainly; bounded on the N by Roe's Charity Property and property of the executors of the late William Thomas Vaughan deceased; on E and S by property of Joseph Randall and towards W by Mill Lane and more property of Joseph Randall. To which said hereditaments John Harris was as heir at law of Elizabeth Albon, deceased admitted tenant on the 6th Jan 1903. Examined by Thomas Humphrey John Porter, deputy steward of Thomas Musgrave Francis in the town of Cambridge and certified by Thomas Musgrave Francis, steward of the said manor.
