Title
Coloured cartoon lithograph entitled 'The Triumph of Nature. Not 50 miles from the Town of Bedford', originally drawn by H Alken and published on 11 April 1835 by Thomas McLean, 26 Haymarket, London. Depicts Turvey Abbey through the park railings with gamekeepers armed with guns searching the grounds while two foxes hide in the roof, while a man, presumably Higgins, shouts encouragement. Includes text in 'speech bubbles'. Postmarked to Higgins Esq., Turvey Abbey. [This satirical cartoon is probably aimed at the Higgins family, local magistrates, who dealt severely with hunting on their land].
