(iv) Eliz. Ramsden of Byram, spinster (one of dtrs. of Sir Jn. Ramsden
of Byram, Bt. decd. by Dame Marg. Ramsden, then his widow.)
(Rec. of will of Thos. Weddell Esq. of Earswick decd. of 7 May 1747 -
redr. of real estate to nephew Ric. Elcock Esq. of York for life,
(3 trustees to preserve contingent uses) then to his eldest s. Thos.
Elcock, then to sons of T. Elcock in tail male, in default to (iii)
2nd. s. of Ric. Elcock and sons in tail male; in default to
testator's nephew Chas. Weddell, since decd. Jointures of not more
than 100 for each 1000 of their wives portions and not exceeding
1000 p.a. could be charged on estate by Ric. Elcock, Thos. Elcock
and (iii). Proviso that those who came into possession of Weddell's
estates, except estate at Wigglesworth should adopt surname of
Weddell. To niece (i) (dtr. of neph. & niece Ric. & Barbara
Elcock) after dec. of her father annuity of 200 p.a. until marr.
to be paid to her mother for her maintenance and education. To (ii)
annuity of 100 p.a. for life. These and other annuities charged
on estates except those at Wigglesworth and Little Newton. Rec.
Ric. Elcock succeeded after Weddell's death and adopted surname by
Act of Parl. (21. Geo II., 1747-8). R. Elcock's eldest s. Thos.
Weddell died a bachelor in 1756 and Ric. Weddell d. 1762 a widower.
His s. (iii) now seised for life in T. Weddell's (sen.) manors, and
in fee simple for Wigglesworth and Little Newton. Rec. (iii) about
to marry (iv) who is bringing him a portion of 10,000; (iii)
making her a jointure of manors of Arnforth als. Arnford and
Leppington & mess. and lands in Arnforth, Leppington, Strimingham,
Barthorpe and Acklam after his dec. This jointure of yearly value
of 970. Other lands of (iii) by legacy of 1747 in Earswick,
Huntington, Grimston, York, Bracewell, Stock, Broughton, Widdington,
Little Osborne, Hensall, Great Heck, Little Heck, Balne, Gargrave
and Nappa have yearly value of 1990. (i) & (ii) cov. at req. of
(iii) if marr. took place and (i) & (ii) survived (iii) would not
require payment of their annuities from (iv) (for her life only).
(i) & (ii) at request of (iii) agree as in last recital, provided
this does nor prevent them from procuring payment from 2nd. group
of manors (above)
