(Rec. of Cov. to suffer Recovery of 2 & 3 June, 1737 -- manor
of Clifton to use of Thos. Robinson to receive annuity of 500.
He settled annuity on himself and sons for life. Rec. of Cov.
to suffer Recovery of 17 & 18 May 1780 - annuity conveyed to
Thos. Lord Grantham. Rec. of Marr. Settlement of 15 & 16
August 1780 (c.f. 20/34/7) - annuity of 500 to trustees for
jointure (marr. of Thos. Lord Grantham & Lady Mary Jemima Grey.)
and then sons of Lord Grantham. One term of 500 yrs. to trustees
to raise 10,000 (by selling or mortgaging annuity) for
portion(s) of child(ren). Rec. of endorsement on latter of 19
February 1791 btwn. (a) My. Jem. Lady Grey, widow (b) Sir Wm.
Hen. Ashhurst (c) Jos. Baldwin. 3 sons. of marr. Thos. Phil.
Robinson, Lord Grantham; Hon. Fredk. Jn. Robinson; Hon. Phil.
Robinson (since decd.) T. Lord Grantham did not make apptmnt. of
above portions - another trustee apptd. Rec. of Recovery of
(manor of Clifton by Thos. Phil. Weddell, Lord Grantham, Easter
1804. Rec. of Marr. Settlement of Thos. Phil. Weddell Earl de
Grey & Lady Henrietta Frances Cole -- manor of Clifton, charged
with 500 annuity to trustees to raise portion(s) for younger
children and to first and other sons of marriage. Rec. of deaths
and wills of several trustees. (i) only younger child of marr.
of Lady M.J. Grey & T. Lord Grantham, entitled to 10,000 under
settlement.)
(i) - (iii) discharge of annuity. Manor of Clifton assigned by (ii
to (iii) for redr. of 500 yrs. term to be merged in reversion.
