    Lease and Release (attested copy) i) John Freeman, Gaines, Herefordshire, Esq, and wife Mary, late Mary Dansie, spinster Richard Barneby, Worcester, Esq, and wife Elizabeth, late Elizabeth Dansie (Mary and Elizabeth being the only surviving children of James Dansie, younger, late of Lincoln's Inn, Middx, Esq, by Elizabeth his wife, formerly Elizabeth Morton, spinster, both deceased. Said James Dansie was grandson of James Dansie, formerly of Grace Church Street, London, surgeon, deceased) ii)The Rev. Thomas Barneby, late Fellow of Brazenose College, Oxford, but now Rector of Stepney, Middx iii) Charles Bell, Hertingfordsbury, Herts, gentleman reciting lease and release of 1 and 2 December 1814 a) said John and Mary Freeman b) said Richard and Elizabeth Barneby c) Robert Sweeting Dansie, Clater Park, Herefs, Esq d) James Wortham, Castle Street, Holborn, Esq e) said James Barneby f) said J Freeman and Rev John Lilly, Mewcourt, Herefs by which a) and b) released to d) - capital messuage, cottages, lands etc in Beds - lands and hereditaments in Hertfordshire to be held by d) to intent that he might become tenant to the freehold in order that 2 or more common recoveries might be suffered of the same, to enure to use of e) on trust for sale. Half of proceeds to be paid to John Freeman, and other half in trust to be paid to f), and applied upon such trusts as should be declared by deed of even date and made between f) and b) By said deed it was declared that f) should place out the moiety of b) as b) should appoint. Otherwise for the benefit of b) and their children. Reciting also that a common recovery was suffered in Hilary term 55 George III [1815] of the Bedfordshire property and another recovery of the Hertfordshire property Now in consideration of 2400 'of English currency and value' paid to ii) by iii) with consent of i) ii) releases and i) and confirms to iii), in his actual possession by virtue of a lease dated the previous day - capital messuage, orchards, gardens, stables, dovehouses etc and 2 closes pasture adjoining (5a) - close pasture once used with cottage formerly in possession of Francis Mallins (1a 2r) - close pasture once used with cottage in occupation of John Kitchiner (1a) once in possession of George Hyde, Esq, in Meppershall - 70a arable, sward and ley ground in common fields of Meppershall and Over Standon, in Beds and Herts - meadow in Meppershall in mead next Compton (4a) - closes pasture in Meppershall called the How Closes (5a), Kirks Close (4a), close next Pulnager (3a) and Crackwell Pightles (2a) once in occupation of Edward Green and Robert Campion - cottage once in possession of Francis Mallins - cottage once in possession of John Kitchiner - cottage with homestall adjoining (1a) once in occupation of Grave [Grove] Farin - cottage with homestall adjoining (1a) once in occupation of Mary Cannon, widow - cottage with homestall adjoining (1a 2r) once in occupation of William Pope all situated in Meppershall in Beds and Herts - all other property late the estate of James Dansie, deceased, in Meppershall and Over Standon, and late in occupation of John Gregory Fox - deeds etc and copies thereof covenant to iii) for peaceable possession copy signatures of i) and ii) receipt various witnesses 29 and 30 December 1820 Certified true copy 25 January 1873
