Settlement in contemplation of the marriage of W T Chapman with Miss Elizabeth Hunt i) Robert Hunt, elder, St Mary, Stamford, Alderman and brewer ii) Elizabeth Hunt, spinster, daughter of said Robert iii) William Thomas Chapman, Biggleswade, gentleman iv) William Chapman of Biggleswade and also of Clifton Cottage, Beds, gentleman, father of W T Chapman v)Robert Hunt, younger, St Mary, Stamford, gentleman vi) Henry Hunt, Lothbury, London, gentleman George Gulliver,Thornby Lodge, Northants, gentleman Cowdell Chapman, Grays Inn, Middx, gentleman a marriage is shortly to take place between ii) and iii) On the day of the marriage i) has agreed to pay to iii) the sum of 200 in part of the fortune he intends to give him with his daughter. Also i) has agreed to invest the sum of 1000 in the purchase of 1134 and 15s 3% Consolidated Bank Annuities in the names of v) and vi) in trust Now iii) agrees with v) and v) that, within one month after the marriage, to effect an assurance on his life with the London Life Association for 1000 i) agrees that within one year after his decease, his heirs will pay 1000 to iii), if he survives him, or to the trustees Said sums to be held on trust - to pay interest on Bank annuities to ii) and after her decease, to iii) After deaths of both of them then for their children equally. Various provisions as to anticipation of the money for the children in case of death of both parents and for the maintenance of either parent Also iv) covenants with v) and vi) to pay 100 yearly for the maintenance of ii) and iii) Signatures of all Endorsed various witnesses6 April 1833 Also endorsed with authority by Mr and Mrs Chapman to convert the Consols into money and to lend said sum to W T Chapman at interest at 4% on a mortgage of certain messuage etc at Biggleswade lately purchased by him from Messrs Lindsell and others22 October 1840 attached Memorandum as to loan from the Trustees to W T Chapman of 1000 to buy his house at Biggleswade 20 August 1860 Also marked with various notes including date of marriage of William Thomas Chapman and Elizabeth Hunt, 11 April 1833, at St Mary's Stamford, and the birth of their 3 children, Sophia Elizabeth, Margaret Eliza and Charlotte Emma and their marriages - Sophia to William Race Raynes 5 August 1869, Margaret to Frederick Wm Fowler, 19 August 1859 and Charlotte to Wm Higgins Jacob on 21 April 1864. M E Fowler died on 29 July 1860 and F W Fowler at Plymouth on 6 May 1868 Also gives death dates of trustees
