    to w. Mary for life (who has settled part of her jointure on their son Henry on his marriage) the manors of Beadlow, Clophill Hall, Clophill & Cainho, the warren of Clophill & Cainho, Clophill water-mill, purchased by late mother Amabel of Jas. Beverley; also use of such plate in house in St. James' Square & Wrest as bears his & her arms (except those otherwise disposed of); also use of goods and linen ? furniture in St. James' Square; but these are to be inventoried and a copy given to s. Henry; to only dau. Amabel 23,000 (this to include the 5000 left by her grandm. Countess Amabel ) ; to trustees Banastre, Lord Maynard, ? Hen. Maynard (his 2nd s.), subject to wife's life estate, the manors of Clophill & Cainho with warrens, mills & woods, to raise Amabel's portion; thereafter rents to go to grands. Anth. Grey till age 21, when to be conveyed to him; or if he doe to grands. Hen.; to dau. Amabel manors of Beadlow & Clophill Hall, purchased by Amabel of Chas. Pegeon, till she die or marry; then to grands. Hen.; but s. Henry to procure an Act for settling Crudwell on grands. Henry instead; to s. Hen. use of pictures at Wrest, & books & MSS. in both houses, which shall be heirlooms; and residue estate; to dau. Amabel 'gold cup & cover & gold salver & all cabinets, chests, china ware, 'agaths', gilt cups, wrought plate & plain plate' bearing her coat of arms, & everything in her own lodging chamber, dressingroom & closet (except bed-hangings, chairs & stools); witn. Ric. Milner, Thos. de Critz, Ric. Wilkinson, Walt. Martyn. 12 Apr 1699 (Testator states that nearly all estate is entailed, & he is only able to dispose of recent purchases, though as these adjoin Wrest it is inconvenient to sever them). Codicil: to all servants 1 year's wages; to gods. Thos. de Critz., s. of servt., 40 p.a.; to poor of Flitton & Silsoe, 100; to 8 poor men or woman of Silsoe 6d. per week; to be burried in Flitton chancel; no monument, but inscription on gravestone 'Depositum Antonii Comitis Cantii'; witn. Jas. Tyson, Ric. Wilkinson, Jos. Seymore. 7 August 1702.
