Archival history
From about 1992 enquiries were arranged by subject matter under the file references CR/AF/Q and then a number to represent the type of enquiry. Most of the responses to these enquiries were not considered to have value for people other than the original enquirer and therefore most of the files were destroyed at the end of 10 years. The files that were retained were those relating to enquiries into land and property, in particular ownership and legal status.
Only files Q0, Q6, Q8, Q10 and Q11 retained all other files destroyed.
