  • Title
Letter: from Captain Colgan, A Company, 7th Lincoln's to Christine Dillingham at Kings Road, Flitwick - "With regard to your husband no 42041 Private Richard Dillingham No 2 Platoon he was badly wounded by a shell when coming out of the trenches on the 26th November last. I personally found him and as my Company had gone on I got some Stretcher-bearers from the 18th Division to carry him to their Aid post but as to whether he ever reached this place we have never heard as we have moved about a lot since and it is practically impossible to get into touch with people after going to a new part of the line. I am very much afraid that your husband must have died while being carried on the stretcher. If I get any particulars further I shall at once acquaint you. Please accept my sincerest sympathy and believe me to be yours"
