  • Title
    Lease for 3yrs. Rent: 40. [c.f. H.A. 13/1 f.4] (i) Hen. Earl of Kent. (ii) Robt. Langhorne of Bedford gent. mess. cd. the Lodge in Harrold Park, orchs. and gardens adjg., and herbage and pannage, exept herbage and pasturage for 25 geldings, horses, colts or mares every summer from 1 May to 1 Nov., and 10 of the remaining months. If the Earl dies before expiry of lease, rent to be paid to C Chas. Grey esq. his bro., and if he died to Hen. s. of Chas. Langhorne agrees to repair; to live on the premises; he is to have 6 cartloads of 'browse wood' a year out of the park for firewood in the lodge; to maintain the deer and 'inne and set up' 6 cartloads of hay for the deer yearly; to kill deer and deliver at Wrest etc., and may have 1 fee buck in summer and 1 fee doe in winter; Earl will keep fences, Langhorne paying half the cost of labour, and is to have free entry as before. Not more than twenty sheep to be allowed in the park at once. Langhorne to pay 40s. to the vicar of Harrold for tithe wood. Witnesses: Chas.Grey, Benj. Pigott, Jos. Loughton, Tho. Daniel, Robt.
