In his will of about 18 Jan 1691 Mary's late father Charles Nicholls left her 1500 to be paid within 2 months of his death and her brother Charles Nicholls, his only son, was sole executor. After a deduction has been made by Charles for his sister Mary's boarding, diet and other things, the principle sum of 1500 and no more is due to her. Mary and Charles agree to pay 500 of that to John Feild. The remaining 1000 is in Charles' possession to be put into securities for Mary's benefit with Mary's permission, with these provisos: - Mary shall receive the accruing interest or proceeds for her separate use or for persons she nominates in writing, certified by two or more credible witnesses. If she die leaving issue, then in trust for each child equally until they attain 21 years. And if she leaves no children, and no alternative appointment is made, then half to go to John Field and the other half to the proper use and benefit of her brother Charles. And it shall be lawful for Mary under her own hand and with two credible witnesses to revoke or annul this settlement in part or in whole, and Charles Nicholls would then stand possessed of or interested in the 1000. - Charles Nicholls shall not be liable for any failure of the securities on which the 1000 is placed out with the consent of Mary - the marriage takes place within 20 days Witnesses: Peece Williams, Thomas Leving, Thomas Norres
