Letter Reads- Comments on the trees to be sold from Eversholt Glebe and how the proceeds of the sale should be dealt with. The interest arising from the money should properly be used for repairs but, whether the interest is used or accumulated, some other person should be joined with the Patron and Rector. The question of Mr Logsden's receipt for a dog cart arises. There is the question of tax for springs and cushions. The Duke requires the matter further investigated but Mr Bennett is satisfied that the "authorities" have made a decision and it is useless to pursue the matter further. Apparently the Duke spoke of Mr King and Mr Bennett comments that the proper time to consider whether to part with him will be when a final decision has been made about the permanent reduction of the Game Establishment, Mr Bennett thinks that Mr King, "a deserving man", should not be turned out of a situation but "if he has proved unworthy of his Grace's further notice, then there is less regret at being able to do without his services and he must shift for himself".
