- TitleLetter Reads- George Body should perhaps be offered the farm for seven years and can prove himself in that time. Present tenants may wish to renew for longer periods as their agreements run out, but best not to start the new system with an untried tenant. A very poor harvest for wheat, and potatoes are subject to disease in some areas. There was a good meeting at Leighton, the farmers better humoured with no complaints about game. Mr Hewitt Davies and his "twin plowing of wheat" was much criticised in his absence. William Bennett of Lewsey Farm forcibly stated it was the speediest way to run for a farmer. Bennett is of the same opinion if the type of soil is ignored. Last year for example Mr Thomas blamed the game for a poor harvest but now admits he had been a sufferer from thin sowing.
