Lord St John is doing a good deal on his estate and plans to visit the North of England and Scotland with a tenant to look at farm buildings. Bennett had suggested he visit Putnoe(which Bennett thinks their best)for comparison which he did and admired. His bailiff however, said it was not to be compared with one his Lordship has just built so Bennett will go and see when next in Knotting. Has heard that Colonel McQueen may soon sell his Houghton Conquest estate. There are further developments on the Manchester railway line plans and also plans for a Leicester - Bedford scheme.
