  • Title
Letter This letter gives details of two old men, George Chapman and James Garrett, who have asked if the Duke will grant them superannuation "If any old people have a claim, these two men certainly have. From all the foremen under whom they have worked they have always had the character of being honest, diligent and industrious men". Discusses the question of a playground for the boys school and the establishment of an infant school - The building temporarily used for the infants being "a sadly dilapidated place". The suggested solution is for the Duke to build a boys school and master's house where a playground could be provided together with sufficient accommodation for the infants.
