Letter Reads- Mr. Sams' encroachment originated 5 or 6 years ago with a well for the inhabitants, the late Duke consented and contributed 10. Now seems to have been a cunning ruse and he has gone on adding one thing after another. Probably expensive and troublesome to compel him to clear it away but ought to be done. Woodland at Clapham originally valued at 1400 should perhaps be bought at considerable reduction due to depreciation in value of timber.
