Letter Reads- Mr. Bennett reports the death of Mr. Chapman of Oakley and notes that Mrs. Chapman has the means to continue the business. Two of Mr. Whitbread's tenants are appointed trustees for Mrs. Chapman and they apply, on her behalf, that the Duke will be prepared to accept her as tenant of the farms. He reports that Mr. Gearing has been for his pension and has been paid 10. It will be more convenient for the pension to be paid locally than in London - subject to the Duke's approval. A comment that Lord Charles Russell does not intend to remove the flower baskets although they are "decayed and liable to fall to pieces".
