Title
Letter from A.Allan to John Wynne
Understand Aislabie has said disrespectful things behind my back. Quantities of people coming after me - a very great mistake. I always thought any inhabitants welcome to walk in the garden in Their Grace's absence; if every person that walks in the garden were to come after me, I should have too many acquaintance indeed. As for a brother gardener coming to see me, I told Butcher & never heard he had any objection. Should be glad no person allowed to walk at all. For I get nothing by it but trouble. Cannot be answerable for brewhouse being robbed. If I do anything not right in sight of any gentlemen in the office shall endeavour to rectify the same.
