    Letter to Robert Butcher from Samuel Tewkesbury, Winchester Reads- Several empty houses here have been taken by govt. for placing officers & soldiers in winter. The agent for the Commissioners for sick & wounded have applied for the dwelling house & malthouse at Hyde for 1 year, the Govt. to make good any damage; this would be some advantage to me & no prejudice to His Grace, but would like your approbation as soon as pos. The publicans here can't take more than 1/3 of the soldiers sufficient to guard the French prisoners.
